Graduation Projects 2017

This had turned out to be a fine day after all! (Larry Williams)

Words

Words
Translated by: Ro’a Mansour

She was fully dressed up. She felt her cheeks and put on a violet shawl. Her perfume announced her arrival to the party as she received endless flatters. She went to her bed at the break of dawn; the last words went down the road of oblivion.

Something Big

Something Big

Translated by I.D.G. and Co.

My mobile didn’t ring in the early morning hours. That caused me great concern. It never stopped ringing like this! More than ten times, I made sure I didn’t put it on ‘silent’ mode. I even rang it from the landline to make sure it rang. In the evening, I freaked out! “What is happening? Why is it not ringing? This situation distracts me; it tears me down, as if something big will happen.” My heart beat fast and my pressure rose. I cleared up all doubts and phoned all my male and female friends after I checked on my parents and siblings. Although those phone calls were expensive, I didn’t care. Something big will happen. I can really feel it! I arranged my papers and I burnt a lot of love letters. I deleted a number I didn’t want anyone to see from my mobile. I don’t know why I was doing it, but I did. Something big happened after that. Not knowing, I was saying goodbye.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day
Translated mainly by: Shahd Ismail, Marah Habashneh and Rama Malkawi

In all her elegance and beauty that passing years could not change and her charming feminine look, she approached him and said, “Good afternoon. How are you?”
“Your bouquet is ready with your favourite colours, and the card is next to it.”
She held the pen and wrote no more than four words, “Of course, you have the address,” she addressed him.
Like in each time, he replied wondering, “Yes madam! When do you like me to send it?” “2 p.m. as usual?”
The bouquet was on her desk when she arrived at work. There was some curiosity on her colleagues’ faces. Fierce jealousy was killing some of her female colleagues.
“Who? Who sends a bouquet on this day every year?”
